A Range of Family Services
Leaps and Bounds Day Nursery was one of the first Neighbourhood
Nurseries to open its doors as part of the Department For Education
and Skills Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative. This initiative
has provided funding to help create 45,000 new childcare places
and represents the largest ever single investment into new childcare.
Not only do we provide much needed childcare, we also offer
a range of family learning, support and advisory services. These
services are designed to provide knowledge, advice and education
to those families that need it most, whether it is helping a
single parent back to work or explaining the grants and benefits
that are available to help a young family pay for full time childcare.
Working closely with local organisations including schools,
colleges, welfare and community groups, job centres and the NHS,
as well as being fully supported by Surestart, we aim to provide
information through leaflets, presentations, discussions, events
and drop in sessions all designed to help our parents and other
potential parents.
Typical activities include:
- Parental Support – information and advice on parenting skills at
significant transition points designed at increasing parent’s understanding
of their child’s development, including special needs
- Child and Family Health Services – information, guidance and advice
on breast feeding, hygiene, nutrition, safety, illnesses etc…
- Schools and Children’s Information Services – information
about different schools, holiday play schemes, before/after school & learning
etc…
- Getting back into employment – career advice, CV and application
forms, job centre etc…
- Studying advice – courses, funding etc…
- Financial Advice – benefits, tax credits, funding available, money
management etc…
- Training for parents – basic English, Maths, Reading etc…
